Greenbluff Strawberries

We made our first trip to Greenbluff this year for strawberry picking! Of course we had our little helpers with us....

Unfortunately, they were doing more eating than picking!!

The strawberries were really big and sweet this year. We'll be making lots of jam tomorrow!!

The last of the Oregon Coast

We managed to visit a lighthouse....

Fly kites on the beach (Richard's brother Blaine and family joined us for one day of fun)....

And we even ate at Mo's twice!!

Believe it or not, we actually got to see some whales, too! They were spouting around that boat in the picture although I couldn't get any pictures of it. We had a great time!

Still more Oregon Coast

Just north of Lincoln City, we stopped at a beach by Neskowin. This big island was surrounded by water.

The next morning we went back at low tide and we could walk all the way around the island.

On the other side of the island was an ancient forest that was visible at low tide - those are old stumps sticking out of the beach.

As you can see, Richard's dad is standing next to an old stump that is over six feet tall!!

Even more Oregon Coast

Low tide was the lowest it had been in 20 years while we were there (-3, whatever that means) so we got to see lots of great sea life up close and personal. Can you see all the anemones surrounding this starfish? We could touch them!

If you look behind Cade and Ragan, you can see how far out the tide was - those rocks were covered with mussels, starfish, and anemones.

More Oregon Coast

Here is the great house we rented for the week - only one block and 132 stairs to the ocean!

Ragan enjoyed making sandcastles on the beach and looking for treasures!

Cade was unsure of the ocean at first, but soon became a daredevil chasing the waves!

And don't forget the ocean sunsets....

Oregon Coast

We took a family vacation to the Oregon Coast this year. We rented a house in Lincoln City with enough room for both sets of grandparents, Loran, and my brother to join us (11 people in all). We had a great time - enjoy some of the photos from our trip!

Our first stop on the drive to the coast was at Multnomah Falls.

When we finally made it to Lincoln City, we found this staircase (132 steps!) was our access to the beach!

We ventured out of Lincoln City to Newport the next day and visited the aquarium. Cade was even in one of the exhibits!

Dad teaches son to ride a bike.

As I was changing my grip on his bike he got ahead of me and away he went.

Wait, wait, slow down, watch out for the curb.

If I would have known it was this easy we could have tried this sooner. If 0nly potty training was this easy.

Cade is now a pro bike rider. He was able to even wipe his nose with one hand and still hang on without crashing. He now wants to try no hands, Not yet. I am very proud of him.

Snail update

By the way, Cade still has two snails alive. We cleaned out their bowl and fed them carrots and apples. They must have been hungry! He can't stop watching them eat (and poop)!

Summer is Here

I forgot to mention that Richard built those awesome raised garden beds in our last post!! Also, he just made these great planter boxes for in front of our garage. They look awesome! Thanks Richard!

Ragan scored some roller skates at our neighborhood garage sale!

Cade's last day of Kindergarten was Friday! Hard to believe he will be in 1st grade next year! He is excited to attend Science Camp for a week in July, though. Plus, we have vacation next week and a couple camping trips scheduled. He even won a free ticket to Silverwood so we'll have to squeeze a trip in this summer!

Today was Cade's last t-ball game of the season. Each player got a cool baseball trophy like the one he is holding!

Stay tuned.....we are heading to the Oregon coast next week for vacation so we're sure to have some exciting pictures to share!

Gardening

The kids were helping me plant the garden so they each had to have the same tools as me.

We made raise beds for the garden this year so we could incorporate soil conditioner and fertilizer. Let's hope it makes our garden grow big!

Cade had his kindergarten concert tonight. They sang songs and recited poems to celebrate all they learned in kindergarten.

He even drew a life size picture of himself, complete with the N on his New Balance tennis shoes!
